Mipcom 2009 – Cannes. Bloomberg and Ciner Media, a Turkish print and broadcast enterprise, have agreed to launch BloombergHT (Haberturk), a 24/7, Turkish language, real-time financial news and business channel broadcast on cable and satellite across Turkey and the Turkish Republics.
The launch of BloombergHT is scheduled to take place later this year. Ciner Media will operate the channel, replicating in Turkey the Bloomberg Television state of the art studios, production facilities and broadcast operations that are in place in New York, London and Hong Kong.
Bloomberg will retain editorial control over the channel’s business content and provide Ciner Media with access to its global service, including 145 bureaus across the globe. An associated Web site will follow the channel launch.
“The launch of BloombergHT signals Bloomberg’s commitment to Turkey and our mission to deliver multimedia content across global markets. Ciner Media is an ideal collaborator to deliver quality business, economic and political news in Turkey,” said Andy Lack, CEO of Bloomberg’s Multimedia Group, in a statement.
Ciner Yayin Holdings A.S., the media arm of Ciner Group, owns HaberTürk TV, the leading Turkish news channel and Haberturk, the nation’s top newspaper. Ciner publishes a number of magazines in Turkey including Marie Claire, Newsweek Turkey, OK! and GEO.
