The Belgian broadcaster Acht TV will launch on the TV Vlaanderen DTH platform on Monday, September 21.
The channel, which is owned by the Concentra Media Group, is dedicated to quality TV series, which includes an output deal with HBO.
Acht TV will be available in channel sharing with the business news Kanaal Z (daytime) and the gay channel Man-X (overnight).
In a related development, TV Vlaanderen and its Dutch equivalent Canal Digitaal Satelliet have replaced public broadcaster Nederland 1 HD with Nederland 3 HD, because the latter currently broadcasts UEFA Cup football in native HD.
As reported in Broadband TV News, Canal Digitaal plans to broadcast more HD channels, possibly including those
from RTL Nederland. In order to make room for them, the platform will switch to MPEG-4 broadcasts for its thematic bouquet on the Astra position at 23.5 degrees East.
