Portugal’s new DTT service can already be received by around 60% of the population, or 6 million people.
According to a report in Diário de Notícias its operator Portugal Telecom says this figure “far outweighs” initial estimates and reflects the company’s commitment to roll out the DTT service as soon as possible.
PT aims to reach 80% of the population by the end of this year and to achieve national coverage in 2010.
By doing so, it will bring the ASO date set by the government forward by 16 months.
