IBC 2009. Stand 1.D70

DirecTV has opted for ATEME in the upgrade of its on demand content to the 1080p standard.

“We are committed to providing our customers with the best television viewing experience possible”, said Hanno Basse, vice president of Broadcast Systems Engineering, DirecTV, Inc. “The ATEME solution is a significant step for us in bringing pristine 1080p quality to our customers, who have come to expect only the best from us. ATEME has tremendously improved our quality of service.”

DirecTV is switching to the ATEME Kyrion File Encoder solution, at the same time automating the encoding of its video content. The US satcaster can also accelerate content delivery to customers for any type of assets, from full HD quality down to low resolution applications.

DirecTV currently runs an on demand library of 5,000 SD and HD titles available via satellite and broadband.
