IBC 2009 Stand No. 1.A71
NDS has unveiled its new EPG Framework, a new end-to-end infrastructure that will allow operators to design, deploy and manage their own electronic programme guides. It brings in the flexibility to update the EPG as required, introducing new revenue streams, such as EPG-based advertisements, promotions and sponsorships, updating the guide on the fly without the need for additional software downloads. Personalised messages and content can also be included.
The EPG Framework is already in use at Get (Norway), Viasat (Scandinavia) and Bharti Airtel (India and Sri Lanka). It runs on the NDS MediaHighway middleware and incorporates a visual drag and drop authoring tool to create EPG themes in both standard and high definition, a headend tool that allows the operator to update targeted set-tops, and client software to manage the Framework themes and updates on the receivers.
