Arqiva has appointed former UKTV Controller and COO John Keeling as the platform controller of its new VOD service. Keeling will be responsible for oversight of all programming and marketing functions, as well as the recruitment of key staff to work on the platform.
Arqiva announced its entry into the on demand sector in July after its purchase of the technology platform that would have launched the failed Project Kangaroo.
Keeling was at UKTV between 2001, sitting on the boards of UKTV and BBC Vision. He subsequently consulted for ITV, BSkyB, Discovery Networks and the BBC. He began his broadcasting career at the launch of MTV Europe in 1987, following this up with a six-year tenure at BSkyB, where he was responsible for the satcaster’s movie channels throughout the 1990s.
