The Hungarian incumbent telco Magyar Telekom has received the legal go-ahead for its merger with Dél Vonal and the cable operator T-Kábel.
According to BBJ, the move, which will be completed at the end of this month, should save the company up to HUF1 billion (€3.66 million) a year and help it better deliver triple play services.
T-Kábel is Hungary’s second largest cable operator and currently owned both directly by the telco (16.4%) and indirectly though its subsidiary Investel (83.6%).
