At least four parties are interested in buying the assets of Germany’s Orion Cable, according to local media sources. They include the telco Versatel, as well as Kabel Deutschland and Unitymedia.
The Financial Times Deutschland says the US investment firm Blackstone is also interested.
The Handelsblatt newspaper signaled the interest of Versatel, which earlier acquired the two smaller cable systems AKF and Media Home.
Versatel currently has 160,000 cable customers in addition to 710,000 DSL homes.
Tele-Columbus CEO Michael Buhl told Handelsblatt there is a growing interest from telecoms companies in acquiring the systems owned by Orion, which include also PrimaCom as well as Tele-Columbus.
Orion is the third largest cabler in the country, with a turnover of €259 million and 3.2 million connected households.
None of the parties named by various newspapers have confirmed nor denied interest in acquiring Orion Cable.
