A large number of French broadcasters still transmitting in the regular 4:3 aspect ratio will switch to 16:9 widescreen during the next few weeks.
The Infosport channel is set to change this week, and it will be followed next week by a number of movie channels from the CanalSat bouquet, namely Cinecinema Frisson, Cinecinema Emotion, Cinecinema Famiz, Cinecinema Star, Cinecinema Club and Cinecinema Classic.
Planete, Planete No Limit, Planete Thalassa, Seasons, Canal Jimmy, Comedie and TF6 will change at a later date.
Serie Club, TV5 Monde, TV Breizh, Equidia, Histoire, Odyssee and Paris Premiere will meanwhile introduce the new format in September.
