Over 1 million homes in Hungary are now receiving digital TV services, according to the country’s National Communications Authority (NHH).
Using sample data from 14 leading providers of TV services, accounting for 80-85% of the market, the regulator has concluded that nearly 3 million homes in Hungary receive pay-TV in some form.
UPC was the leading provider of pay-TV services in the group of 14, claiming a 33.4% market share.
It was followed by Digi TV with 24.1% and Magyar Telekom with 18.2%.
Analogue cable accounted for 57.6% of pay-TV subscribers, digital cable 12.9% and DTH, IPTV and wireless 29.5%.
In the cable sector, UPC accounted for 36.8% of digital homes, Magyar Telekom 20.7% and Digi 10.4%.
