The Austrian telecom regulator RTR and Economic Chamber (Wirtschaftskammer Österreich/WKÖ) are planning to spend up to €2 million in a fund to subsidise HD cable tuners in the country.
Eutelsat Kabelkiosk shows hybrid portal
IFA 2009 – BERLIN. Eutelsat Kabelkiosk will show hybrid receivers with web access at this year’s consumer electronics show in Berlin. Viewers will be able to request clips and programmes on demand on an interactive Kabelkiosk portal.
TP introduces DTH VOD
The Polish incumbent telco Telekomunikacja Polska (TP) has added VOD to the services offered by its DTH platform.
Five new channels for UPC Austria
UPC Austria is adding five new channels, including Rush HD, to its digital line-up. At the same time, it will stop distributing a number of channels from the Sky Deutschland bouquet.

Cable launch for new Dutch channel Onze TV
The new Dutch commercial channel Onze TV (Our TV) will launch on Tuesday, September 1, as part of the analogue tier on the networks of Cogas, Reggefiber, CAI and selected nets from Ziggo.
Argentina to adopt Japanese TV standard
Argentina has confirmed it will use a variation of the Japanese ISDB system as its digital television standard. The Latin American country will run the Brazilian terrestrial variant of the technology known as ISDB-Tb.
Telenet puts on its JimJams
Telenet has become the latest operator to add the pre-schooler JimJam to its channel line-up, the second operator in Belgium to do so.
