S&T delivers VOD through CI+

IBC 2009: Stand No: 1.A21.

Strategy & Technology (S&T) is launching its new MHEG Presenter 2 product suite, building on the existing support for digital text services, and including new modules for video-on-demand.

In partnership with Tandberg Television and Neotion, S&T is also demonstrating a CI+ VOD solution that enables operators to deliver network-based in demand video services including catch-up TV without the need for a set-top box. With the introduction of the cable card in the United States, and growing enthusiasm for CI+ in Europe, Broadband TV News is anticipating this to be a theme across the halls of the Amsterdam RAI complex.

S&T will show catch-up TV applications implemented with MHEG Presenter 2 and including flexible integration with back-office systems. This builds on the IP Interaction Channel being introduced by Freesat later in the year and expected to deliver the iPlayer into Freesat homes ahead of Project Canvas. S&T has been working with the Digital TV Group on the standardisation of the Interaction Channel that was included in the D-Book 6 published earlier this year.
