TF1 says the iPhone version of its TF1 Player has made great strides for the on demand platform since its launch last January.
The French commercial broadcaster is charging €3.99 for the Apple Store application, unlike other channels such as France 24 and Sky News, which have made similar programs available free-of-charge.
Arnaud Bosom, TF1’s director of new media, said the iPhone application was the flagship product of its multi-screen strategy. Once downloaded viewers can access a full selection of TF1 shows while connected via either 3G or Wi-Fi networks.
Similar applications for other platforms, including Google Android, are under development.
Since the relaunch of TF1.fr on April 16 the average amount of time spent watching video on the site has increased from 12 to 16 minutes. 80% of short form videos are watched in their entirety and 20% of long form.
