Alternative carriers drive Spanish broadband

Cable operators and alternative carriers accounted for 82.86% of new broadband connections in Spain between March and May this year, according to the regulator CMT.
Cable operators accounted for 16.21% and alternative carriers 66.65%, with the incumbent telco Telefónica claiming the remaining 17.14%.
As of the end of May, there were a total of 9.34 million broadband lines in Spain, or 8.7% more than a year earlier.
