CAIW, the fourth largest Dutch cable operator, has started carrying the three Dutch HD channels on its network. Canal Digitaal Satelliet has meanwhile launched Nederland 1 HD.
The four largest Dutch cable operators now carry Nederland 1, 2 and 3 in HD on their networks, Ziggo, UPC, Delta and CAIW having added the three public channels. A number of smaller operators including Kabeltelevisie Pijnacker and Kabel Media Brabant – Gelderland have also launched the HD channels.
The DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliet has decided to launch with Nederland 1 only; this channel carries the live native HD coverage of the Tour de France.
For the moment, only selected programmes are in native HD, with the majority of the schedule being upscaled.
