The incumbent Latvian telco Lattelecom expects to be offering internet access at speeds of up to 100 Mbps to 800 residential homes in Riga by the end of this year.
TeliaSonera-backed Lattelecom began rolling out ultra-fast internet access at the beginning of the year and now provides a service to around 100 homes in the Zolitude area of the city.
It expects the service, which will eventually be introduced to the rest of the capital and other parts of the country, to allow greater use of interactive TV and HD channels.
Lattelecom currently operates the only IPTV service in Latvia and will also shortly be launching a DTT platform.
