ANGA CABLE 2009 – COLOGNE. Telecolumbus and Primacom are to launch German cable’s first HD PVR. It is the latest German technology win for NDS that also has agreements with Kabel Deutschland, Kabel BW and Premiere.
The independent operators that between them have 3.5 million connected homes have picked the NDS XTV technology. The hybrid DVR device will feature two tuners in addition to an Ethernet connection.
Last year, Tele Columbus and PrimaCom selected NDS’s VideoGuard conditional access that will now be intergrated into the PVR platform.
“Having deployed VideoGuard content protection and MediaHighway middleware, we decided to also select NDS’ XTV DVR technology as the logical complement, maximising the capability of our infrastructure and service options for our subscribers,” said Markus Schmid, CEO of Tele Columbus and PrimaCom.
