The Dutch movie channel Action Now! is to stop broadcasting on May 31st. The channel, which specialises in action packed B-movies, failed to get sufficient distribution.
Action Now! was launched in 2006 by TV4U with the aim of bringing the 24 hour movie channel to a number of platforms. It managed to gain carriage on the Ziggo cable network and the Canal Digitaal Satellite DTH platform.
However, earlier this year Action Now! lost the Ziggo deal and was not successful in securing distribution on the UPC Nederland network. Meanwhile, Chellomedia launched the Film1 Action channel.
Without sufficient distribution, the only way out for the channel is to close.
