ANGA CABLE 2009 – COLOGNE. The Irish software conditional access systems provider Latens is combining its software and middleware in one single highly scalable pay-TV delivery platform.
Known as ECO, it will give cable operators the opportunity to offer their customers a multitude of next-generation entertainment services such as web TV, over the top broadband TV and time shifted TV.
Latens’ Conditional Access software provides security for one way and hybrid IPTV/cable networks.
Adding DOCSIS 3.0 IP connectivity to a pay-TV platform, it says, will offers existing cable operators a secure migration path to next generation services.
It will also smooth out the transition to a more powerful network and enable cable operators to compete with IPTV operators, offering a variety of interactive TV services.
As ECO is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) compliant it will let viewers share content across a home network without embarking on a complicated configuration process.
This way cable operators will be able to offer subscribers an enhanced viewing experience across a whole home network of multiple set-top boxes, PCs or personal media players, with content secured by Latens’ conditional access.
