ANGA CABLE 2009 – COLOGNE. S3 will unveil its new automatic set-top box test and analysis system.
Named StormTest, it will enable more accurate and cost-effective testing of new and existing boxes in the field.
StormTest will allow cable, satellite and IPTV operators, set-top box manufacturers and component and infrastructure vendors to significantly reduce the need for time-consuming, expensive and error-prone manual testing when developing and deploying set-top boxes.
According to S3, its sophisticated software solution enables multiple box types to be tested simultaneously as it automates large amounts of in-depth testing in a seamless and controlled way.
It takes away the pain from having to manually test new functionality across a variety of set-top boxes, thereby reducing error risks in the field, improving end-user satisfaction and customer loyalty.
Over the past 20 years, set-top boxes have become increasingly complex as technologies have evolved and as customers demands for enriched content have increased.
Boxes need to get to market faster and more importantly the organizations involved in their delivery want to keep them in the field longer. Testing these boxes while in the field and before they are deployed has become increasingly important in that regard.
