Portugal Telecom has given details of a new investment in a fibre-optic network that will serve one million households by the end of 2009.
The telco is describing the launch as an important milestone “which will fundamentally transform the television, Internet and entertainment experience of the present and future generations of customers.” It said the €650 million development would adhere to guidelines set down by the regulator Anacom in February.
An additional 72,000 customers to Portugal Telecom’s IPTV-Satellite platform Meo brought the total number of subscribers to 384,000 at the end of March.
