The Belgian media group Concentra will launch its Dutch language digital TV channel Acht (Eight), specialising in imported ‘high quality’ TV series, on May 18.
Acht is the ‘preferred partner’ of Home Box Office (HBO) in Belgium and will show both new and old favourites of the US based premium channel.
From next week onward,s series including The Sopranos, The Wire, Carnivale and Curb Your Enthusiasm will be shown.
Acht will also buy TV series from other broadcasters, including the Channel 4 series Shameless. For the moment, Acht is available on the cable networks of Telenet including the former Interkabel networks, on Numericable in Brussels and on the Belgacom TV IPTV network.
The Concentra media group owns printing plants, daily newspapers including Gazet Van Antwerpen and Belang Van Limburg, as well as interests in the regional Flemish TV channels TV Oost, ATV and TV Limburg.
