The Czech company RIO Media has signaled its intention to become a third force in the country’s electronic communications marketplace.
Speaking at a press conference reported by Digizone, its spokesman Jan Hlavac said that it has in the past year already emerged as a serious rival to both UPC and Telefónica O2.
RIO Media has expanded through the acquisition of such companies as FCA, the country’s second largest cable operator, and Mattes AD, which owns an IPTV platform named 802.tv.
Together, its interests already reach around 350,000 households.
RIO Media plans to consolidate these interests and focus on the provision of additional services.
