Deutsche Telekom is holding at around half a million subscribers to its T-Entertainment service.
The German telco announced last November that it had reached 497,000 at the end of the third quarter and had passed 500,000 in early January. In its first quarter financials released today, Deutsche Telekom announced there were 448,000 IPTV lines in operation, the discrepancy apparently cleared by the 600,000 lines that had been ordered.
Telekom is planning to expand the number of linear channels available to its T-Entertain subscribers and from the summer will use its Microsoft Mediaroom middleware to allow customers to read email, listen to music, view personal photos and videos, and share this content with friends, all through the TV and set-top.
Separately, the Telekom owned Slovak Telecom has announced its IPTV service reaches 230,000 subscribers in 10 towns across the country.
