Comstar-UTS has begun providing a broadband internet service in the Russian town of Tambov through a company named Tambov Telecom, itself a subsidiary of Stream TV.
Employing FTTB technology, it will initially reach 14,000 households, offering access speeds of up to 2 Mbps.
Tambov Telecom’s existing network in the city employs hybrid coaxial fibre to reach some 70,000 homes, its offer include a 46-chanel TV service.
Comstar-UTS plans to eventually upgrade up to 90% of its regional networks with FTTB technology to offer triple play services.
