NDS signs up for Macrovision licensing

Macrovision has announced that NDS has signed a multi-year licence agreement for electronic program guide patents.

The agreement covers Macrovision’s Gemstar patent portfolio and allows NDS to offer licensed EPGs to its pay-TV platform operator customers in specified countries.

There has been a burst of recent activity from Macrovision in the protection of its patent, notably those in the Gemstar portfolio, acquired by the company last April.

UPC has also recently signed up to the patent licensing program, while a case against Virgin Media is pending in the UK courts.
