Setanta Sports has joined Sky Sports, Eurosport and ESPN in the launch of its own online on-demand platform.
Setanta-i went live earlier this month and is based around the Microsoft Silverlight player and Irdeto’s Content Management System. A download of Swarmcast’s bandwidth management technology, specifically developed for the online streaming of live sports, is also required. The service is capable of running at speeds of up to 1.8Mbps.
A monthly payment of £7.99 (£79.99 for the year) entitles subscribers to Setanta Sports 1, 2 and Golf. A selection of on demand content is also available, the Irdeto technology managing the free and pay elements of the site, and protecting the paid for content. Setanta Sports News is available free of charge.
The Irdeto technology supports the fully automated service that is capable of managing the capture and encoding of content drawn from up to 17 live feeds.
