Ad boost for top Polish channels

Poland’s TV industry defied the odds in Q1, with most of the leading channels posting higher ad revenues than in the corresponding period in 2008.
Data produced by TNS OBOP for Wirtualne Media shows that TVN had the highest income PLN534,657,642 – €119,412,526) in the quarter, or 6.8% more than in Q1 2008.
Although Polsat’s was down 16.3% year-on-year at PLN471,797,618, both TVP1 (PLN382,330,99 – +21.4%) and TVP2 (PLN264,528,144 – +26.4%) enjoyed sharp rises.
The real star performer was fifth placed Viva Polska, its PLN82,124,255 being 185.2% up on Q1 2008.
