Eutelsat has announced that GlobeCast has renewed five transponders leased from the Hot Bird neighbourhood for broadcasting in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East until 2016.
With the seven-year extension of all five contracts, GlobeCast is continuing its longstanding relationship with Eutelsat for broadcasting free-to-air and pay-TV channels to cable and satellite homes.
From several of its 12 facilities worldwide, GlobeCast uplinks five digital multiplexes to Eutelsat’s Hot Bird satellites comprising almost 70 television channels including BBC World News, CNN International, EuroNews, JSTV, Al Jazeera, RTR Planeta and Berbère TV.
As the contract was signed, Olivier Milliès-Lacroix Eutelsat commercial director, said in a statement: “We are delighted to pursue our longstanding relationship with GlobeCast, a key provider in transmission services for the broadcast community. This new long-term contract further anchors our flagship video neighbourhood as a reference point for the broadest array of general entertainment and thematic programming.”
