The number of homes across Italy equipped for DTH reception has increased by 13% over two years to 7.1 million homes, representing almost one in three of the 23.1 million television homes in the country, according to the latest research figures published by Eutelsat.
The number of DTH homes pointed to Eutelsat’s Hot Bird neighbourhood grew at a faster rate of 18% over the last 24 months. The installed base of DTH antennas equipped for reception at 13 degrees East in Italy now stands at 6.1 million.
Pay-TV accounts for the lion’s share of satellite TV homes, representing over 4.6 million homes and showing a growth rate of 24% over the last two years.
All the Italian channels carried on Hot Bird are now delivered in the digital format, well ahead of terrestrial analogue switch-off.
The satellites at 13 degrees East broadcast over 360 digital channels for the Italian market, including the first seven channels in HD, which are available on the Sky Italia platform.
