Tehe launhc is the result of a decision by the media regulator Bakom, who awarded must-carry status to the channel. SSF is owned by the holding company United Sport Production USP TV AG, which was founded in 2007 by a group of private investors. The channel specialises in mass sports including Formula 1 Racing, football, ice hockey and tennis, but also covers niche sports.
At the same time, SSF continued its technical agreement with the public broadcaster Schweizerischen Radio- und Fernsehgesellschaft (SRG) for distribution and play-out facilities.
