Arris has signalled its intention to develop further products in the area of video delivery, storage and advanced advertising. The ConvergeMedia Application is one of a number of new product line announced by the company this week. Arris has also adopted a new tagline, ‘Convergence Enabled’.
ConvergeMedia is designed as a complete management suite with components that will serve on demand content and advertising inventory, while supporting metadata, entitlement and account management.
“Arris is right at the forefront of enabling the bandwidth and delivering the equipment that allows operators to offer these services in a most cost effective user friendly way, Stan Brovont, Vice President Marketing and Business Development, Arris said in a company webcast.
“If you look at the position that cable operators have today they are the traditional supplier of video and video on demand. They’re also the supplier of bandwidth available to consumers to access over the top content, so it’s in their vital interests for them to figure a way to reconcile those two phenomena to monetise them.” Brovont said that Arris was looking to provide operators with the tools they need to offer the content to their subscribers.
Trials of the new product range are expected to be underway over the next month with some elements already in the field.
