ZON Multimedia says that it is now Portugal’s market leader in triple play services, one year after the operator’s rebranding.
The former TV Cabo said over 23% of its customers were now connected to triple play. EBITDA grew by 11% to €244.5 million with blended ARPU rising by 4.2% to €32.
270,000 households in Lisbon and Porto are currently capable of receiving the operator’s 100 Mbps broadband service, which will be upgraded to the entire 3 million footprint before the end of 2009.
Over 100,000 subscribers have installed the HD PVR known as the ZON box.
Basic subscriptions slipped slightly from 1,547,000 in 2007 to 1,525,000, as did premium pay-TV from 840,600 to 829,000. However, extended digital basic subs grew to 495,800 from 382,100, while broadband internet and fixed voice both closed 2008 in positive territory, The newly launched MVNO mobile service had 7,200 subscribers.
