The Romanian incumbent telco Romtelecom has embarked on a cost-cutting campaign to secure more subscribers for its already successful DTH operation Dolce and internet service Clicknet.
ZF reports that the telco is targeting the 80% of its fixed line customers who do not as yet also opt for Dolce and/or Clicknet.
The price cuts, which see the cost of receiving Dolce reduced to RON13 (€3.01) a month, will put pressure on Digi TV, the current market leader in the DTH sector, which has recently increased prices.
Dolce had 558,000 subscribers as of September 2008, while Clicknet had 567,000.
