The ad market in the Czech Republic was worth CZK54 billion (€1.933 billion) in 2008, or 8.7% more than a year earlier.
According to Strategie, TV accounted for CZK26.6 billion, or around half of the total, with the leading broadcaster TV Nova, which is owned by CME, claiming CZK13.6 billion (+18.3%).
MTG-backed Prima TV accounted for nearly CZK9 billion (+0.5%) and the public channels CT1 CZK2.8 billion (-11.1%) and CT2 CZK659 million (+119.3%).
The economic slowdown started to be felt in December, when gross revenues amounted to only CZK3.9 billion, as opposed to CZK5.8 billion a month earlier.
