Holland’s largest cable operator Ziggo, with 3.2 million connected households, has announced it will issue multiple smart cards to its subscribers from March onwards. Up to five cards may be supplied at no additional cost to the consumer.
The new policy allows Ziggo customers to view the digital channels across all TV sets and PVRs in the home at no additional cost. The operator uses a retail model, whereby customers buy their own equipment and get the Irdeto Access smart card and subscription from the operator.
Ziggo is also preparing for the introduction of the CI+ standard, which makes it possible to use any approved cable tuner or PVR on the network.
