CNN has confirmed the launch of its four-hour Freeview window on January 15.
The international news channel will debut with a one hour special Middle East Challenge and will provide “access all areas” coverage of the Obama inauguration on January 20 including the swearing-in ceremony.
“We’re delighted to be doubling our UK distribution,” commented Tony Maddox, executive vice president and managing director of CNN International. “UK viewers will be able to enjoy not only our signature global news and feature programming but also a new slate of new programmes we’re developing for Europe prime time.”
CNN is taking DTT capacity previously used by Nuts TV and will benefit 13.8 million viewers. The primetime block will run from 21.00 to 01.00 GMT, Monday to Sunday.
