Dutch cable operator Ziggo has placed a large initial order for the Arris Touchstone TM702 series of DOCSIS 3.0 E-MTAs. Ziggo will use the in-home devices to market much faster Internet speeds along with carrier-grade Voice over IP service to the top tier of its more than three million residential and business customers.
“In the highly-competitive Northern European market, we need to offer our subscribers the highest quality Internet and voice experience possible,” said Ziggo CTO Paul Hendriks, in a statement. “Arris is at the forefront of technological innovation in DOCSIS headend and CPE equipment and we feel confident that they will help us offer our customers a compelling and extremely competitive DOCSIS 3.0 solution.”
“We are most pleased to extend our collaboration with Ziggo and to help them achieve success in this challenging and competitive environment” said Claudio Cerioli, Senior Vice President, International Sales at Arris.
Ziggo is Holland’s largest cable operator. UPC Nederland has already started rolling out its DOCSIS 3.0 service with an initial launch in Amsterdam last September followed by a gradual roll-out over the entire network.
