Livestation is now looking for volunteers to test the new iPhone application, which will give access to live streams of eight international news channels on wi-fi networks. (See also Broadband TV News passim).
Since the application uses wi-fi access, the Livestation service will also be available on iPod Touch devices. Over-the-top free services such as this and YouTube direct on the iPhone will seriously challenge mobile TV services from operators based on a subscription model. They can be accessed directly independent of the operator and also internationally.
