The burgeoning Polish DTH market is gaining up to 20,000 new subscribers each day.
According to Satkurier, Cyfra+ accounts for half of the total, with the remainder split between Cyfrowy Polsat (5,000) and n and Telewizja na karte – TNK (5,000).
Satkurier points out that Cyfra+’s current success in securing new customers – the figure was recently running at around 14,000 a day – can be put down to a number of factors including a strong advertising campaign and anti-piracy measures.
Interestingly, the recently launched pre-paid service TNK is becoming increasingly popular amongst Poles living in other parts of Europe, with the total number of active cards already believed to be as high as 150,000-180,000.
TPSA’s recently launched Orange DTH platform, which uses Canal+’s infrastructure, is meanwhile already understood to have up to 170,000 subscribers.
