CET 21, the operator of the leading Czech broadcaster TV Nova, has applied for a ‘compensatory’ terrestrial licence for its thematic channel Nova Cinema.
Nova Cinema was launched last December and is currently distributed by cable and satellite.
By securing a ‘compensatory’ licence, which TV Nova is entitled to having agreed to relinquish its analogue licence, Nova Cinema will also be distributed via DTT and eventually reach 95% of the population.
TV Nova, which is owned by CME, also operates Nova Sport, until recently known as Galaxie Sport.
CME also holds a licence to operate the soon-to-be-launched Czech version of MTV.
