OpenTV is to supply advanced television services to the Belgian cable network VOO.
“We’ve been selected to power a number of next generation digital services including HD, DVR and VOD for VOO,” said OpenTV CEO Ben Bennett.
VOO is the triple play platform operated by the ALE-Teledis and Brutélé to offer interactive and on-demand video services to their customers in the French-speaking region of the country. The operator currently has 1.2 million subscribers.
The adoption of OpenTV by VOO puts it on a par with the Belgian Numericable network, the former Coditel, which already uses OpenTV technology. Combined with Numericable’s French operations it effectively puts OpenTV into the major of digital cable opens in France and French-speaking Belgium.
