Discovery Channel grew international revenues by 16% to $300 million (€236 million) in the third quarter on the back of a 22% increase in distribution revenue from the EMEA region (excluding the UK) and Latin America.
Advertising revenue was flat as strong growth on EMEA and Latin America was pulled back by lower advertising revenue in the UK. The company explained this was due to “an interpretation of a contract provision resulting in a limitation in our ability to monetize our audience”.
When the UK is excluded advertising revenues in Discovery’s international business increased by 29% over the third quarter of 2007.
