Cablecom is launching an HD version of its ‘mediabox’ personal video recorder. The three tuner Philips-Pace device can record up to 80 hours of standard definition or 25 hours in high definition.
The launch comes 12 months after the UPC affiliate launched its first HD package. Subscribers in German-speaking Switzerland and currently receive six HD channels, four of which are in the basic package.
The device costs CHF25 (€16.60) per month with the standard HD receiver priced at CHF15.
It is anticipated that a video on demand offer will be launched by Cablecom in the first half of 2009.
