Cabovisão is facing up to severe competition in the Portugese pay-TV market as the Canadian-owned net lost almost 2,000 RGUs (Revenue Generating Units) in the third quarter to August 31, 2008.
Orange sees 72% TV growth
France Telecom has grown subscriber take-up by a massive 72% over the last 12 months. As of September 30, 2008 the Orange-branded service had 1.746 million subscribers compared with 1.017 million just 12 months earlier. 211,000 customers were signed in the third quarter of 2008.
Motorola increases networks margins
Motorola’s Home and Networks Mobility sector grew its operating margin by four percentage points in the third quarter. The operating margin increased from 7% to 11% of sales year-on-year as set-top shipments climbed to 4.1 million compared to 2.7 million in Q3 2007.
Mid-2009 launch for Kangaroo
The partners behind the Kangaroo are looking to launch the online video portal by mid-2009, according to new information released by the Competition Commission. BBC Worldwide, Channel 4 and ITV plc have now formed a limited liability partnership known as UKVOD.

Russia’s CTC Media has posted revenues of $143,307,000 for Q3, or 52.3% more than in the corresponding period last year.
