Internet usage, though growing rapidly, is still a minority interest in Russia.
According to a study undertaken within the last month by the All-Russia Centre for the Study of Public Opinion, 69% of Russians do not use the internet at all, as opposed to 76% two years ago.
Just over one in ten (11%) are online every day (as opposed to 5% in 2006) and 9% several times a week. A further 7% use it several times a month and 3% ‘rarely’, meaning at least twice a year.
The study does not go into the huge differences that exist across the country.
In Moscow, for instance, almost half (43-45%) of the city’s 3 million households were already known to have a broadband connection in 2007.
