Slowly but surely, thematic channels are gaining ground at the expense of the leading broadcasters in Poland.
Data produced by TNS OBOP shows that in September TVP1 claimed an audience share of 21.56% among viewers aged 4+, as opposed to 22.70% a year earlier.
TVP2 (16.72% v 18.47%) and Polsat (15.17% v 16.46%) were also down, though TVN (15.79% v 14.96%) was slightly up.
Although TVN24 remains by far the most popular thematic channel in Poland, it, too is losing audience (3.17% last month, as opposed to 3.60% in September 2007).
The big winners include Discovery Channel (0.82% v 0.39%), Disney Channel (0.90% v 0.52%) and Viva Polska (0.73 v 0.51%).
