RTL moves into Greece

RTL Group has agreed to buy a 66.6% stake in Greece’s Alpha Media Group for €125.7 million.
Alpha Media Group’s interests include the national broadcaster Alpha TV, regional station Cosmos T (based in Thessaloniki), radio stations Alpha 98.9 and Palmos 98.8 and an in-house production company.
Alpha TV is the third most popular broadcaster overall in the Greek market, claiming an audience share of 14.5% in H1 2008 (13.6% in H1 2007).
It also accounted for 16.5% share of the TV ad market in H1 2008, putting it in third place among Greek broadcasting companies.
