IBC 2008 – AMSTERDAM. Teleste has started headend hosting services, providing headend functionality to cable TV operators as a service. Teleste has also announced that a group of Spanish cable television operators have already started using the company‘s hosted encryption services. With the announcement, Teleste extends its portfolio from equipment, software and professional services to also include hosting services.
The hosting service is set up so that Teleste operates the physical headend equipment and provides customers the functionality they need as a service. Customers pay only a monthly fee based on the number of subscribers they have and do not need to purchase equipment themselves.
“Low initial setup costs make hosted services an ideal solution for small and medium sized operators. Hosting services also enable operators of all sizes to quickly set up new services as the system can be put into operation in less than two weeks”, said Teleste’s Petri Viitala, director, Customer Support Services in a prepared statement.
The first customers for Teleste’s hosted services are a group of (unnamed) Spanish CATV operators, who are using encryption as a hosted service.
