NBC programming is returning to the US iTunes store following an absence of a year. Apple CEO Steve Jobs made the announcement during the presentation of the new iPod nano and iPod touch models.
A year ago, NBC withdrew its programmes following a dispute about pricing. The US network subsequently started to offer its programmes on its own Hulu online video portal, a joint venture with News Corp.
Also new to the iTunes Store are HDTV shows, which will be priced a $2.99 per episode, as opposed to $1.99 for SD ones. All of the new iPods will also feature Genius recommendations with the launch of iTunes 8, which generate automatic playlists based on preferences and can optionally be integrated with the iTunes Store.
